I drove in to Bandera from San Antonio to eat here because my daughter brought home some chicken strips from there and I just had to try it because they were so good. It did not disappoint! I had the OST burger and it was delicious along with the onion rings. They were a bit busy but Jessica, our waitress still took the time out to advise us on the menu so we could make an informed decision on our food. Thank you, Jessica! I will definitely be making the trip to eat here again.

I checked out OST while on vacation. Such a great diner! Walking in you immediately notice all the fun decorations. Very old west vibes, like a cowboy is gonna burst through the doors any second! The service is great. Our server was on top of everything, even though it was a bit busy. She was very friendly and made our experience personable. When the food was dropped off, the cinnamon roll was the first victim. It was great. As was everything else the table ordered. I would go back to OST again if I lived in the state!

I went in at the end of the lunch rush (around 1:45 pm) and waited 5 minutes for a table; it was well worth it! My waitress was excellent and kind. The food was mouth-watering; I ordered the chicken fried steak or "The Duke" in a small (they offer small, medium, and large portions), with the soup of the day, tortilla soup, and a slice of Blueberry Buttermilk Pie If you are stopping in town or near the area, this place is a must-stop!

Food is wonderful. Staff is wonderful. It's been a to enjoy country style for 103 years.

This place is small, amazing hospitality & food. The chicken fried steak is a must! Next time we will save room for pie

We ate here three times on vacation! Taco Nachos were so great. The chips and salsa were really great too. I had French toast for breakfast and it was super! Waitresses were all so nice!

Great service and healthy portions!!! I ordered the chicken enchilada plate... being modest I ordered two. Their freshly made chips and salsa is also very good. It's a good thing I ordered just two. The chicken enchiladas were topped with chili and cheese with fresh chopped green onions. They didn't skimp on the roasted chicken as the couple of bites took me longer to finish. I had no room for dessert. The dining area gets noisy but their excellent service did not slow down. 5 stars for my first lunch experience here on a Labor Day weekend. Drive slow through Bandera's Main Street. If you blink, you'll miss it and have to drive around the block.

A drive out to Bandera, TX should be a requirement if you are within 80 miles; especially if you are on a motocycle. It's a great town for people watching, unique shopping, and The OST. There is always a wait to be seated, so be prepared but sitting outside watching all the cool motorcycles roll by makes time fly. The food is good, the staff is very friendly and the ambiance is great.

It was a day trip to Bandera, TX. I had asked on the San Antonio Restaurant Facebook Page, where folks recommended to stop for lunch. Most recommended O.S.T. (Old Spanish Trail) Restaurant. It's the longest operating restaurant in Bandera County, having started in 1921. Dad had pink lemonade and the Old Fashioned Breakfast with 2 eggs, a slice of ham, hash brown, and toast. Hubby and I both had coffee and shared The Duke Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes, toast, and a trip to the salad bar. The CFS was a little chewy, but the gravy was good. The mashed potatoes were really good. We had wanted to try the Bluebberry Buttermilk Pie, but they didn't have any, so we tried the Chocolate Meringue Pie. I was hoping the chocolate part was more like mousse, and this one was more pudding-like. The meringue was perfect. The John Wayne Room was impressive, and I had Dad take a photo with The Duke. We visited both the original courthouse and the current courthouse. Bandera is the Cowboy Capital of the World. Sure enough, we saw folks on horseback across the courthouse. I would love to go back and ride the horses.

If you're stopping by in the weekend you better get up early. This is a popular place but they have two dining rooms too. Well worth the wait. We stopped in on a Sunday morning just before they got full. The coffee is good and the service is just as good. You can count in some good diner type food. Irving to complain absolutely and cleaned our plates.
